It provides information on the total number of people in that occupation, the mean annual wage, the number of jobs per 1000, and the ‘location quotient’. The location quotient is the ratio of the percentage of jobs in that occupation locally to the percentage nationally. A score above one denotes that more jobs in that occupation are present in the local area compared to the national average, while a score below one indicates fewer jobs in the local area relative to the national average. Some observations from the table:
- Metro Los Angeles is the largest market for audio-visual technicians. It is also the metro area with substantially more jobs in this field relative to its population
- New York does have a sizable market, and it is slightly larger than one would expect, given the city’s size. It is the other major market for A/V techs.
- Other markets that have more AV tech jobs, relative to population: Boston, San Francisco, Orlando San Jose, Austin, Pittsburgh, and Las Vegas.
- Houston, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Detroit have substantially fewer jobs than one might expect for cities of their sizes
